The collection consists of documents and reports from the Army Adjutant General's records concerning Allen's trip to Alaska in 1884 and his 1885 expedition, papers relative to the writing and publication of Allen's expedition report in 1886, and Allen's Alaska diaries for 1884 and 1885 from the Library of Congress.
